How long does PSA take to grade cards? PSA, Beckett and CGC turnaround times
Current estimated turnaround for every PSA, Beckett and CGC tier in real weeks, what each PSA order stage means (including Assembly), and why your order can take longer.
Guide
4–5 moPSA Standard's 90–100 business-day estimate, in calendar time
New to pull rates? The terms in 30 seconds
- “1 in 92 packs”
- On average, you'd open 92 packs to pull one. It's an average, not a promise: you could hit it in pack 3 or go 300 without one.
- SIR (Special Illustration Rare)
- Full-art cards with special artwork. Usually a set's most valuable pulls.
- IR (Illustration Rare)
- Art cards of single Pokémon. More common than SIRs, and often collected as a set.
- Hyper Rare
- The gold cards. Among the rarest pulls in modern sets.
- Double Rare / Ultra Rare
- The ex and full-art cards that make up most of a set's hits.
- Booster box / ETB
- A booster box has 36 packs. An Elite Trainer Box (ETB) has 9, plus sleeves and accessories.

PSA’s cheapest open tier, Standard, is estimated at 90 to 100 business days, which is roughly four to five months on the calendar. Faster tiers cut that to a few weeks if you’re willing to pay. Beckett’s only open tier takes about three weeks, and CGC ranges from one week to about seven months. Here’s every tier, converted into weeks you can plan around.
Key takeaways
- Turnaround estimates are in business days, and the clock starts when the grader logs your order, not when you ship it.
- PSA: Standard 90–100 business days (about 18–20 weeks), Express 20–30 (4–6 weeks), Super Express 10–15 (2–3 weeks).
- Beckett: Express is the only open tier, at about 15 business days (3 weeks). Base and Standard are paused.
- CGC: Standard is about 10 working days (2 weeks). Bulk is about 150 working days (about 7 months).
- PSA’s Assembly stage is when your card is labeled and sealed in its slab. PSA doesn’t publish how long it takes; collectors report anywhere from a few days to several weeks.
PSA turnaround times#
| PSA tier | Price per card | Estimated turnaround | In calendar time |
|---|---|---|---|
| Value tiers | Paused | — | — |
| Standard | $59.99 | 90–100 business days | about 18–20 weeks |
| Priority (formerly Regular) | $79.99 | 70–80 business days | about 14–16 weeks |
| Express | $199 | 20–30 business days | about 4–6 weeks |
| Super Express | $349 | 10–15 business days | about 2–3 weeks |
| Premier (formerly Walk-Through) | $599 | 7–10 business days | about 1.5–2 weeks |
Calendar time assumes five business days a week; holidays push it out further.
How long does PSA Express take?
PSA estimates 20 to 30 business days for Express, about four to six weeks after PSA logs your order. If you need it faster, Super Express is 10 to 15 business days and Premier is 7 to 10, at much higher prices. Our grading cost guide has the full price list.
Why your PSA order can take longer than the estimate
- The clock starts late. PSA says a tier’s estimated turnaround doesn’t begin until the order is entered into its grading system. Shipping time and the wait to be logged come first.
- There’s a big backlog. PSA paused its Value tiers in 2026 to work through it, and reported its active backlog at 8.2 million cards on October 6, 2026. It has said Standard orders are processed after existing Value and Bulk orders.
- Estimates aren’t guarantees. PSA says turnaround can change quickly with submission volume.
- Return shipping adds a few more days at the end.
PSA order stages, explained#
PSA’s order tracker moves through these stages. Understanding them tells you how close you are.
- Arrived. PSA has received your package.
- Order Prep. Your cards are counted and checked against your form, and the order is entered into PSA’s system. This is when the turnaround clock starts.
- Research & ID. Each card is identified so its label is correct. PSA emails you to review the descriptions.
- Grading. At least two graders examine each card for authenticity and condition. The review once called “QA1” is now part of this stage.
- Assembly. Labels are printed and each card is sealed in its slab.
- Grades ready. PSA requests payment when grading is complete, and you can see your grades once it’s paid.
- QA Checks. The slab and label are inspected for defects (this was once called “QA2”).
- Complete and shipped. The order is packed and sent back to you.
How long does PSA Assembly take?
PSA doesn’t publish a time for Assembly. Collectors report a wide range: some orders pass through in a day or two, while others sit in Assembly for several weeks. The tracker can also lag behind where your cards physically are. If your order is in Assembly, the grading itself is done; the remaining stages are encapsulation, payment and quality checks.
Beckett (BGS) turnaround times#
| Beckett tier | Price per card | Estimated turnaround | In calendar time | Status |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Base | $17.95 with subgrades | 75+ business days | 15+ weeks | Paused, waitlist |
| Standard | $34.95 | 45 business days | about 9 weeks | Paused |
| Express | $79.95 | 15 business days | about 3 weeks | Open |
| Priority | $124.95 (last listed) | 5 business days | about 1 week | Check Beckett’s form |
Beckett’s website has been down for maintenance since September 9, 2026, and it’s taking submissions through a temporary form. Beckett said it paused Base and Standard “to help us focus on existing orders and maintain estimated turnaround times.”
CGC turnaround times#
| CGC tier | Price per card | Estimated turnaround | In calendar time |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bulk (25-card minimum) | $17 | 150 working days | about 30 weeks (7 months) |
| Economy | $20 | 90 working days | about 18 weeks |
| Standard | $55 | 10 working days | about 2 weeks |
| Express | $100 | 5 working days | about 1 week |
| WalkThrough | $300 | 2 working days | a few days |
CGC notes that a card not yet in its database can take longer, because CGC has to research and add it first. That can matter for brand-new sets.
Which is fastest for the money?#
At a similar price, CGC Standard ($55, about 10 working days) is far faster than PSA Standard ($59.99, 90–100 business days). That trade-off is real: PSA 10s usually sell for more than CGC 10s, so for a card you plan to sell, the wait for PSA may still be worth it. Our PSA vs BGS comparison covers resale differences.
